In memory of
Gilbert Mark Archuletta III, known to friends and family as "Archie" passed away on May 7, 2019, at the age of 55. Born and raised in Manhattan Beach, Mark graduated from American Martyrs Catholic School and Mira Costa High School. Mark developed a love of travel at a young age and went on his first trip to Greece following graduation from high school. He traveled throughout Europe and again to Greece in his 20s and 30s. He appreciated good food and worked in restaurants throughout most of his career. He enjoyed acting and magic as a young child and was a member of the Groundlings Theatre in LA as an adult. Mark has always been a big sports fan. He loved playing sports as a kid in the South Bay including Manhattan Beach Little League, Waves Football, beach volleyball and AYSO Soccer. He never missed a chance to watch his brother, Michael, play college basketball. His favorite football team was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he followed them faithfully. Family was very important to Mark and he filled his room with family pictures. Mark is survived by his parents, Gilbert Archuletta, Jr., and Dottie Horn (Bob Horn, deceased); Siblings, Lynn Farr (Bill), Anne Marie Patel (Hemant), Michael Archuletta (Amy), Jeff Horn, and Greg Horn. He was loved by all his nieces and nephews, Chelsea, Rob, Tessa, Nick, Cary, Cameron and Chloe. Friends are welcome to join us at a mass honoring Mark's life on Wednesday, June 12th at 1:30pm, at American Martyrs Catholic Church 624 15th Street, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266. Mark was diagnosed with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy in 1999. He supported Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy research and was always hopeful they would find a way to cure this disease. Therefore, in lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mark's memory to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation.
