Marjorie Mae Newcomer
Marjorie Mae Newcomer PEORIA - Marjorie Mae Newcomer, 95, of Peoria died Thursday, September 6, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. W.S. Newcomer; parents, George and Mae Kimpton; brother, Harold Kimpton; and son, Kim Newcomer. She is survived by her children, Marc Newcomer, Nancy Daraban (John), Suzanne Newcomer (S.O. Paul Gilbert), Katie Lorimer (Tim) and Marc Daraban; step-grandchild, Kiel Mackie; great-grandchild, Reese Lorimer; and nieces, Priscilla Newcomer, Marcia Welch and Ginger Kennedy. She attended business school and worked at the Galesburg Veterans Hospital during her husband's deployment to China during World War II. They relocated to Peoria in 1951 and lived here until her death. Marj was a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She enjoyed being a girl scout leader and volunteering at Methodist and Proctor gift shops and Mothers Against Drunk Drivers. She also enjoyed playing golf and bridge. Burial service will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. Interment will be following the service at the columbarium at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to St. Paul's Episcopal Church music program or St. Martha's Guild or the Shriners Hospital. The family would like to thank Lutheran Hillside Village Care Center for their extraordinary loving care during her final months.
