SHANNON, Marilyn June SHANNON, Marilyn June. Marilyn June Shannon, born in 1942 in Bloomburg, Texas, beloved wife of Phil Shannon, passed away on June 8, 2019. She leaves her children, Melissa and Lane; grandchildren, Luci and Luke; and daughter-in-law Vicky and son-in-law Todd. She was the cherished daughter of Bertha and Ruben Parnell Adams and sister of Virginia and Harold Paul. Marilyn was a proud University of Texas Longhorn, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts. She was also awarded her Master of Education-Counseling and Student Services at The University of North Texas. Marilyn was successful in so many areas because of her dedication and tenacity, especially her commitment to education, serving for over 43 years as guidance counselor and teacher of American Literature at her beloved Skyline High School (love ya blue!) She loved traveling the world with Phil, her husband and best friend for almost 54 years, they went on over 25 cruises together. She also enjoyed reading and visiting with her dear friends and family. Marilyn's family invites all who loved her to join them for a celebration of her life at 2:00PM, Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at East Dallas Christian Church, 629 Peak Steet, with reception to follow.
