Mable Ruth Jackson Doke
Mrs. Mable Ruth Jackson Doke was born September 19, 1938 at Lake Village, Arkansas to the late Eugene Jackson and Ruby Cossey Jackson. She passed away unexpectedly at her home in Jones, Louisiana on August 21, 2018. Ms. Mable was lifelong resident of the McGinty and Jones Community and together with her husband, J.C., they owned and operated Doke's Grocery in Jones for forty years. Mrs. Doke enjoyed flower gardening and watching birds in her yard. She was also talented in embroidery and cross-stitch. Above all, Ms. Mable was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a blessing to her family and many friends. Mrs. Doke is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and four brothers. Ms. Mable is survived by her by her husband of sixty-two years, J.C. Doke of Jones, Louisiana; her four children, Dennis Doke and his wife Cindy of Jones, Louisiana, Carolyn Langley of Redwood City, California, Ruth Marsh and her husband Donny of Jones, Louisiana, and Cindy Knight and her husband Wes of Fulshear, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Brandy Kahlig and her husband Kris, Eric Pollock, Nickey Marsh and his wife April, Stephanie Frazer and her husband Eric, Hillarie Hale, and Ainslie Hale; three sisters, Rosie Bordenero, Christine Crymes, and Betty Halford; two brothers, Robert Jackson and James Jackson; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 23, 2018 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Funeral services for Mrs. Doke will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 24th, at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Traylor and Bro. Kevin Sanders officiating. Committal services and burial will follow at the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Serving as pallbearers are Randy Haynes, Nickey Marsh, Scott Travis, Eric Pollock, Kris Kahlig, and Don Doles.
