Lyle L. Schule April 17, 1927 - August 8, 2018 Lyle L. Schule, age 91, of Sarasota, Florida passed away peacefully on August 8, 2018 after a long illness. Lyle was born in 1927 in Waterman, Illinois to the late Stella and Manley Schule. Lyle graduated from Hinckley High School, Class of 1944. Following high school, Lyle joined the Navy and was stationed in Dallas, TX where he played on the Navy basketball team during WWII. He was honorably discharged after the war ended in 1945. Lyle moved back to Aurora, Illinois after the Navy. He married Mariette Plante in 1952 in Aurora, Illinois, and together they had two children, Bradd and Grant. In 1951 Lyle moved his family to DeKalb, Illinois. He joined DeKalb Savings and Loan which under his leadership became recognized as the largest financial institution in DeKalb County. He wore a lot of hats, among them Chamber of Commerce president; Lions Club president; United Fund drive chairman: member of the NIU Foundation Board of Directors & Businessman for NIU; member of the Kishwaukee Community Hospital Board. Lyle also served on the board of the Bank for Savings & Loan Associations. In 1987 Lyle received the "Distinguished Community Service Award" from the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce for his dedication and service over the years. It's an award given to an individual who has demonstrated an attitude to place community service above himself. Lyle had a very fulfilling career in banking retiring in 1989 at the young age of 59 as the President of DeKalb Savings and Loan. Lyle was an avid golfer. He served three terms as President of the Kishwaukee Country Club in DeKalb, Illinois. Lyle and Mariette moved to Venice, Florida after he retired in 1989 where he continued to engage in his favorite sport by joining the Jacaranda Country Club in Venice. He also continued his community involvement serving on the board of the Woodlake Condominium Association where they resided for over 27 years. He spent his time playing golf and making new friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. In 2016 Lyle & Mariette moved to Aviva, A campus for Senior Life in Sarasota, Florida to be closer to their Florida family. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Mariette, sons Bradd and Grant, his daughters-in-law Sally and Maria, his three grandchildren Maia, Kaylea and Tyler, and niece Sandra Bickford and nephew Scott Bickford. He is predeceased in death by his parents Stella (Haverstraw) and Manley Schule, sister Shirley (Schule) Bickford and brother-in-law Wayne Bickford. Memorial donations in Lyle's honor may be made to the Benderson Rehabilitation Center Employee Appreciation Fund. Please make checks payable to: Anchin Pavillion, 1959 N.
