MONTPELIER - Louis J. "Joe" Mason, 63, of Wheelock Street, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, in Barre, Vermont He was born on Sept. 22, 1954, in Bennington, Vermont, the son of Louis J. and Flora (Matson) Mason. He received his education from Bennington public schools, graduating from Bennington High School in 1973. He later attended Ethan Allen College. Most recently, Joe worked for Capital Candy as a delivery driver. Joe was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and old western movies. Most of all, Joe loved caring for his beloved Pug, "Lucy." On June 1, 2013, he married Victoria Grappone in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. Survivors include his children, Amy Mason, of Brandon, Vermont, Louis J. Mason III, of Manchester, Vermont, Frederick Mason, of Kingston, Massachusetts, Thomas Mason, of Addison, Vermont; stepchildren Aimee Tedeschi, of Plainfield, Vermont, and Michael Gadwah, of Waterford, Vermont; sisters Lee Cross, of Arlington, Vermont, Kathy O'Deil, Sandra Wirasnik, Patricia Cummings, and Cindy Knapp, all of Bennington, Vermont; and 12 grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. Services will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made to Green Mountain Pug Rescue at www.greenmtnpugrescue.com .
