Lewis Dalton Butler - - August 6th, 1940 - March 12th, 2019 Hooray for Me! I am so happy! I made it back home to be with my Wife, Judy. The Strawberry Preserves we canned are ready, and I'm making biscuits just like Mom used to in my childhood home of Carthage TN. Ah, the good ole days, where I attended Smith County High School. From there I went to Tennessee Tech and used my degree to become the Macon County High School Band Director. Most of the Band alumni are still meeting up each year and I feel like I am attending each reunion in spirit. I continued my higher education in Teaching at UT Knoxville and Indiana University. Which is where I met Judy. We lived in Knoxville for a while after we were married and when Kelly was born, we moved to Nashville. Thus began a long and happy career at the Tennessee Department of Education, working in a variety of programs and a variety of state buildings over the decades of my employment. My highlight was working with Assistive Technology until my retirement in 2012. Our state's glorious Department of Education is a well organized machine with evenly lubricated parts. It makes a delightfully odd whizzing sound during annual assessment and evaluations. This sound can be muted with homemade gourmet pizza. Now, don't y'all go worrying about a thing. I've had the best life a man could ask for. My daughter Kelly, her Husband Dave and my wonderful Grandson, Milo have made me so proud. And it goes without saying, I was born with the Best Brother in the whole world, Mr. Huber "Bud" Butler and his wife, Pat. Great friends, my family, and you. What more could I have asked for? If you feel as though you want to reach out or send flowers, I would rather you take those impulses and make a donation to your local school band. Support your Local Tuba Enthusiast! They need reeds for Clarinets, or lockers for instruments, I'm just sure of it! If you don't have a local school band, then please make a donation to the Croft Middle School Band - Croft Middle School, 482 Elysian Fields Rd. Nashville, Tn 37211
