MARTHA DEAN GATLIN
GATLIN, MARTHA DEAN Martha Dean Gatlin, known to loved ones as Deanie Gal, passed away on June 21, 2020 at the age of 64. She resided in Ypsilanti Township, MI. She was born October 6, 1955 in Bolivar, Tennessee to the parents of Martin Luther Gatlin and Mary Magdaleen (Humphrey) Gatlin. She was the 5th born of 10 children and graduated from Bolivar High School in 1975. She went to Nursing School and become a Nurse Aide at St. Joseph Hospital in Ypsilanti. She dedicated over 30 years to GM before retiring in 2014. She enjoyed family gatherings, playing spades, and talking on the phone with friends and family. She was known for baking the most beautiful cakes that tasted just as amazing as they looked! She is survived by her children, Andrea Gatlin, Andra Gatlin, LaKeisha Long and Michael Gatlin. She will be missed by her 7 grandchildren: Monique Meads, Maiya Meads, Asia Gatlin, Anthony Kersey, Jr, Andra Gatlin, Jr. and Tyson Ives. She has 5 surviving siblings: Christine Spencer, Grace Mae Gatlin, Ann Newton, Melton Gatlin, and Frederick Gatlin. Martha was kind and giving and insisted that you make a plate if you came over to visit. She touched many lives as a Basketball Mom while her son, Michael attended Lincoln High School. She quickly became known as Mama Gat and welcomed all into her home after games. She had a love of gardening and growing fresh vegetables, in which she gave to loved ones. Her life will be celebrated publicly on July 4th at 11am at C & H Community for Funerals, 411 S. Adams St. Ypsilanti, MI 48197. The commitment ceremony will follow the funeral services at 2:30 pm, held at Washtenong Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 3771 Whitmore Lake, Ann Arbor, MI 48105.
