After a lengthy battle with cancer, John "the big yin" Baillie passed away January 2nd at his home in Cambridge Ontario. Born in Glasgow, Scotland to John and Helen Baillie, he leaves behind his brother James (Margaret) Baillie, sons Ian (Lisa Vawer) Baillie, Paul Baillie, Stuart (Michelle) Baillie and daughter Lisa Baillie. John will be missed by his grandchildren, Christopher, Alec, Phoenix, Spencer, Gavin and Jack Baillie as well as his great-grandsons Christopher and John Baillie. He immigrated to Canada in 1967 as an electrician spending most of his career with Ontario Hydro living in his Cambridge home since 1972. In retirement, John spent his time golfing with friends, wee Jock (Lisa) Beveridge, Jake (Mary) McAuley, Dave (Virginia) Smith and Brendan (Sharon) Smith. He spent much of his time at the Black Badger always telling brilliant stories with the staff and his many friends including dear friend Donna Hammersley. John was known by several nicknames, Ace, The Beast and most often The Big Yin. All fondly given to him by the many people who called John a friend. He was always so full of life and filled a room with laughter whenever he was in it. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of John's Life will be held at a later date.
