L. RITA FRECHETTE 1918 - 2018 Norwich – L. Rita Frechette 100, of Norwich died August 31, 2018 at the Norwichtown Rehab and Care Center. She was born in Taftville on July 30, 1918 the daughter of the late John and Lillian (Scott) Frechette. Rita was employed as a Teacher most of her life, first teaching at Sacred Heart School in Taftville and retiring from the Plainfield School System in 1992. Rita's career with the City of Norwich began when she joined Civil Defense in 1948. In 1968 she was appointed Director, a position she held for 33 years. She was a communicant of the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich. She is survived by her nephews: Roland John Frechette and Robert Frechette, niece Vivian Frechette, great grandnephew: Aaron Frechette, great grandniece Jessie Wraichette and great great grandnephew McAllister Wraichette. She was predeceased by one brother Roland O. Frechette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, September 6th at 10:00 A.M. at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich, meeting directly at church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Taftville. Calling hours at the Guillot Funeral Home, 75 South B Street, Taftville will be Wednesday from 5-7 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart School, 17 Hunters Avenue, Taftville, CT 06380.
