Kenneth Ray Keener Passed away on March 6th, 2016.Born in 1930, he attended high school in Seattle and later graduated from Central Washington University earning BA and MA degrees in elementary education. Hired by the Puyallup Washington school district in 1953, he had a very successful career as both teacher and principle. Ken received the Principle Distinguished Service Award in 1988, and three Golden Acorn Award, PTA's highest award. After retiring from the school district in 1992 he was hired by Pacific Lutheran University as supervisor of student teachers, a position he held until 2002. Always positive, he was a strong motivational leader encouraging children and teachers to reach their highest level of education. He also initiated the first community school in Puyallup, offering students and parents the opportunity to participate in education and recreational activities after regular school hours. Ken is proceeded in death by his wife Jean Keener of 60 years, and two children.A private service will be held at a later date.
