Hammond, Kathy Parr Kathy Parr Hammond, born September 7, 1953, in Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully at home in Dallas, TX, Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in the company of her family, close friends and her cat, Tabitha. Kathy's brave and quiet battle with cancer was a testament to all of her courage and determination supported by her strong faith in God. Kathy was employed as Branch Manager for the Walker Zanger showroom in Dallas, TX, where she earned a reputation for being an outstanding producer of sales, service and profits. Kathy was held in high regard by Walker Zanger management and throughout the imported stone and tile industry for her professionalism, intelligence, image and unique style. As an active Industry Partner Representative for ASID, Financial Director, 2009-2011, for the Dallas Design Community Board and Co-Chair Elect for Metrocon Expo & Conference, Kathy was always willing and eager to contribute where and when there was an opportunity. Known for her keen sense of style and color, from clothing to interior finishes and eclectic furnishings, Kathy also designed and created custom silk scarves, batik art, sterling silver jewelry, weavings, unique beaded bracelets and earrings. In her own Southern and gracious style, Kathy loved to entertain and cook creatively while giving attention to the smallest of details. Shopping for antiques, accessories, clothing, gardening, planting flowers and watching old movies were all favorite hobbies and pastimes. Kathy's laughter, love of color, charm and beauty lit up any room and will be missed by all who admired, respected, appreciated and loved her. Kathy is preceded in death by her loving father James W. Parr. She is survived by her mother Mary Frances Parr, step-mother Carole Parr, sister Mary Jane McClure, brother Vernon Parr, all in the Charlotte, NC. area, and a host of Dallas friends and colleagues. Tabitha, Kathy's loving and loyal feline companion of 15 years, who is healthy, smart and animated, misses her mom and needs another quiet and loving home. Kathy's memorial service is Tuesday, March 27, at 3:00 pm, Christ United Methodist Church, 3101 Parker Rd, in Plano, TX. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kathy Parr Hammond Scholarship Fund, c/o Sr. VP Jim Habern, Prosperity Bank, 2012 Midway Rd., Plano, TX 75093.
