POQUOSON - Kathryn Virginia Myers Forrest, 89, a native of Portsmouth, resident of Hampton for 16 years, and Poquoson resident since 1961, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011, after a short illness. She was a graduate and salutatorian at Churchland High School, and attended Mary Washington College. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hampton since 1945. Mrs. Forrest was a member of the Hampton Women's Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, was a homemaker, and an excellent cook well known for her homemade biscuits. She was a woman of faith, a kind, caring, loving person, and a friend to everyone. Mrs. Forrest was preceded in death by her husband, B. Felton Forrest, and infant brother, Winston Myers. She is survived by a son, Ronald F. Forrest of Williamsburg; a daughter, Martha Anne Forrest of Gloucester; grandson, William Forrest Robinson of Gloucester; great-granddaughter, Lillian Marie Robinson of Gloucester; two brothers, H. M. Myers and wife, Mary Virginia of Suffolk, and Elwood Myers of Portsmouth; two sisters-in-law, Nannie Forrest of Poquoson and Celia Forrest Prince of Toano; five nephews, seven nieces, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends, Sandra and Ken Riddick of Tabb. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today, at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News. Memorial contributions may be made to the Poquoson Volunteer Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 2099, Poquoson, VA 23662, or to the Virginia State Police Alumni Inc., c/o J. K. Rowles, Treasurer, 2484 Riverville Rd., Gladstone, VA, 24553. Online condolences to www.claytorrollins.com .
