In memory of
Kathleen A. Comerford
COMERFORD, Kathleen A. Kathleen A. Comerford, born in New York City in 1939, beloved wife of Thomas, after many years of suffering, passed on June 3, 2019. She leaves her daughters, of whom she was intensely proud, Kathleen M. Comerford, PhD and Elizabeth Melia, PhD, along with dear grandchildren Emily and Daniel Melia & step-grandson Elliot Edwards, as well as inestimable sons-in-law, Mark Melia & Mark Edwards. She was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Geeney, a graduate of Notre Dame College in Staten Island, and also attended Columbia Teachers College and Hunter College. Kathleen was an avid reader who delighted in introducing her students to great literature and she worked to establish and improve programs in gifted and talented education. She taught for a total of 44 years of highest praise, in Dallas at Christ The King Catholic School and area public schools, and at NYC public and Catholic schools. She was also a textbook editor. She felt rewarded when many people took her into their confidence and asked for her help and insight. She will be so greatly missed by so many, most especially by her husband of 56 years & best friend for 59 ("and, oh, the difference to me"). If friends want to honor Kathleen's memory, in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jean Baptiste HS, 173 East 75th St. NY, NY 10021. A Requiem Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Christ The King Catholic Church, on Preston Road, with reception to follow.
