In memory of
Katherine Elizabeth Ratliff
Katherine Elizabeth Ratliff, 22 of Harrisburg, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 23, 2018. Katherine was born in Norfolk, Virginia and was the daughter of Greg and Sharon Ratliff of Harrisburg. She was "Katie" to her family and "Kat" to her friends and co workers. Katie grew up in Fishers, IN and graduated from Hamilton Southeastern High School as an Honors Student. She attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN where she studied Journalism and Game Design. While there, she started a chapter of "Extra Life", an annual gaming fundraising event with proceeds going to local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. She worked at Old Navy stores in Bloomington and in Lima, OH before transferring to the Harrisburg Old Navy store, where she was employed as a manager. From the time she could talk, Katie made friends everywhere she went. She cherished the uniqueness of everyone she met and through social media, she was able to cultivate and maintain close friendships despite geographical distance. Katie loved photography, horses and all animals, playing character role gaming with her online friends, and spending time with those she loved. She also loved "Cosplay" and attended many Cosplay conventions around the country, while making close friends, both online and at those conventions. She spent many hours designing and creating detailed costumes for herself and others. Her friends loved her deeply and all describe "Kat" as someone who supported, encouraged, and nurtured each of them. In addition to her parents, Katie is survived by her brother, Sean Ratliff, maternal grandmother, Shirley Cook, paternal grandmother, Minnie Ratliff, half-brother, Brian Ratliff, half-sister, Ashley Hensley, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends everywhere. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 12th at 11:00 A.M., followed by a Celebration of Life starting at Noon at the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 6011 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg. The Rev. Jeffrey Fisher will be officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to a Children's Miracle Network Hospital of your choosing by visiting extra life.org/donate . www.pennlive.com/obits
