Josephine Nyzio Ridge
Josephine Nyzio Ridge, 95, made it safely to her heavenly home on July 31, 2018, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Josephine was born on Oct. 23, 1922, in Trenton, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Polish immigrants, and was one of the first women to serve honorably in the U.S. Marines. Josephine was a devout Catholic and had been a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church for many years, where she attended Mass daily. She also enjoyed walking on the beach and spending time with her family and beloved dog. Josephine is predeceased by her loving husband, Patrick J. Ridge. She is survived by her son, David Ridge; daughter, Maurya (Joe) Sova; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anastasia Catholic Church at 5205 A1A South in St Augustine. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Father Seamus O'Flynn Scholarship Fund at Knights of Columbus, PO Box 840036, St. Augustine, FL 32080. Arrangements are by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin ( hgmandarin.com , 288-0025) at 11801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32223.
