SAN FRANCISCO - Josephine Meiers Leggett, 69, of San Francisco, CA died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at her home surrounded by family, friends and her beloved rescue dog, Poco. She was born February 7, 1940, in Springfield, IL, only child of the late Cecile and Clyde Meiers. She is survived by a son, Doctor Cameron Leggett of San Francisco; a daughter, Kate Leggett of Pittsburgh, PA; and three cousins, Samuel Radwine of Signal Hill, CA and David and Nathaniel Radwine of Springfield. Jo was a gifted photographer and highly respected by her peers. She was the recipient of many prizes and acted as judge at many shows. Her photographs are imaginative and highly personal. She left an extensive body of work now placed in the archives of the University of Texas, Austin. Jo had a vibrant and active mind. She was an avid reader, an entertaining companion, a caring mother and a steadfast friend. Memorials may be made to the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Road, Springfield, IL 62702.
