Josephine Carlson, 69 Loving sister and aunt with a great sense of humor Josephine Carlson, 69, passed away on March 15, 2020. A native Staten Islander, she was born in Mariners Harbor and raised in Rosebank. Josephine was a graduate of Curtis H.S. and also attended classes at the College of S.I. She worked for many years with the NYC Dept. of Transportation as a highway repairer, a job which she was very proud of. Josephine, fondly known by her family as JoJo, had a wonderful personality and a great sense of humor. Her family stated that if you wanted a good laugh, all you had to do was go and see Aunt JoJo. Josephine had a love for all animals, especially her beloved dog, Sandy, who she treated like her child. Above all, she was a loving and devoted sister, aunt and great-aunt who treasured time spent with family. She was the beloved daughter to the late Armand and Marion Maffia; loving sister to Ann Parisi and the late Anthony Maffia; devoted aunt to Shannon Byers, Anthony, Frank and Crystal Maffia, Lisa Uszacki, Sandra McDonald, Ann Marie Parisi and the late Frank Armand Parisi. She is also survived by her 14 cherished great-nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island. Cremation services will be private.
