Joseph W. Davenport "Uncle Joe" Joseph William Davenport, 75, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019 at home with his husband, Don Sweeney in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Joe was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.  Joe always had a job starting at the age of 15.  He continued his education at night and obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. During this time he served his country in the National Guard and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He worked for General Motors, Union Carbide, and Wagner before finally retiring from the New York City Transit Authority in 2009. Joe loved retired life and spending time with his husband, Don, in Manhattan and in Doylestown. He enjoyed entertaining his family and friends, loved walking in flea markets and scouting for items for himself and family.  He enjoyed traveling and people watching. He had a unique sense of style. Joe was predeceased by his parents James and Margaret Davenport, brothers Jack, James, Bernard, and William, and his nephew William.  He  is survived by his husband, Don Sweeney of Doylestown, Pa., Jack's wife, Anne of Lakewood, and will be missed by over 20 nieces and nephews, especially Cassius Quinn Albert, and many more young people who knew him simply as "Uncle Joe". At Joe's request, cremation will be private, and there will be no memorial services. In lieu of flowers or donations, Joe has asked that everyone vote Democrat in the next presidential election.
