JOSEPH SLOKAR
age 89, of Wickliffe, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 in Warrenton, Virginia. Joe was born on August 26, 1930 in Lokavec, Slovenia, the son of Kristjan and Franceska (nee Bavcer) Slokar. He grew up in Slovenia, but moved to Italy, then France before coming to America in 1960. He lived in the Cleveland area until he moved to Virginia in 2015. As a skilled craftsman, Joe spent most of his career at SKRL Tool and Die, and in his spare time he used his skills to make stilts for his daughters, windmills for his garden and even built a house. He was a member of the Primorski Klub and SNPJ where he enjoyed the company of friends, playing balinca and dancing to polka music. Joe is survived by his daughters Elizabeth Slokar (Steve Burke), Julie (John) Gallagher and their children Hannah, Faith and Violet. He is also survived by siblings and their families in Slovenia, Slava Bozic, Gabriella Berce and Simon Slokar. He is preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. Family will receive friends at ST. MARY CHURCH 15519 HOLMES AVE., CLEVELAND 44110 ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8 AT 9:30 am TILL TIME OF MASS AT 10:30 am. Interment All Souls Cemetery.
