Joseph P. Kinchen
Joseph P. Kinchen, of St. Gabriel, Bayou Paul Road, LA., born September 3, 1931, died February 12, 2020 at his home following a lengthy illness. Known to friends and family as Joe or Dood, he will be remembered as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many who experienced his wit, his knowledge and his love for hunting and fishing. Joe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda S. Kinchen, and two sons, Kevin (Allison) and Graham (Denise) Kinchen. Joe leaves behind one grandson, Sean Kinchen, and three granddaughters, Emma, Harper, and Haleigh Kinchen. Survivors also include a brother, Frances Paul, and sisters Ora, Audrey, Lovey and Carol. Joe was preceded in death by his parents John and Mamie Lebeouf Kinchen; brothers John, Jim, Rodger, Huey, Carl, and Austin; sisters Wilma, Thelma, Pearl, Ernestine and June. Joe retired from Dow Chemical Co. after 34 years of service. He is a Navy veteran of the U.S. Korean Conflict, in which he served as a blimp mechanic stationed in Key West, FL. Joe's passion was fishing and deer hunting. He was also an avid gardener and loved cutting grass on his beloved property on the Bayou Paul where he was born and where he died. The family would especially like to thank Superior Home Health and Hospice in His Care . The family is also grateful to all his neighbors and family members who showed great kindness in Joe's last days. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2020, from 2-5 p.m. at la Maison de Bella located at 18380 Alligator Bayou Road in Prairieville, Louisiana. A graveside service will be held at the Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 W. Mt. Pleasant Rd. in Zachary, LA on Tuesday, February 18 at 11 a.m.
