In memory of
Joseph Brooksbank, 87, died Saturday in Holyoke Hospital. He was born December 25, 1931 son of the late Wardman and Janet (Kerr) Brooksbank, twin of Richard and the youngest of ten children. He was predeceased by three brothers and six sisters. He graduated from South Hadley High School and entered the Navy during the Korean War. He worked many years for FLN-Mar Plastics as an inside salesman. He also worked for 22 years at South Hadley Fire Department, District 2. He retired as Chief of the Fire Department and from FLN-Mar Plastics. He was predeceased by his first wife Dorothy Swanson. He leaves his wife of 31 years Barbara (Adams) Brooksbank. He also leaves three special Godchildren Heather Riley, Susan Fitzgerald and Judy O’Day, two dear nieces and one special nephew Sheila Clegg, Donna and Ronnie B. Bullough and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Joe was happiest being with family and friends locally and at Cape Cod. He also enjoyed fishing and boating. He was known as a hard worker and landscaper. He always wanted to ensure there was clear view of the lake. The funeral home service will be Wednesday October 16th at 11 am at the Curran-O’Brien Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley followed by burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service on Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joe’s memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215 or to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
