John Wescott "Scott" Hartsfield
John Wescott "Scott" Hartsfield Scott Hartsfield, 48, much beloved husband, father, brother, and son, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 23, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2012, at Bradfordville First Baptist Church. The family will receive guests beginning at 1 p.m. in the church foyer. He is survived by his wife, Laurie Donnell Hartsfield, and sons James Dominic (Jack) Hartsfield, William Wescott (Trapp) Hartsfield, and George Baxter Hartsfield. He also leaves behind his loving parents, James D. (Jack) and Martha Hartsfield and sisters Susie Parslow and her husband Matt; Shari Phillips and her husband Carl; as well as three nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Mr. Lowell Wescott and Mrs. Ruby Lee Hartsfield and by his maternal grandparents Mr. John Jackson Chandler and Mrs. Ada Bardin Durham. Scott was born in Tallahassee, Florida, on January 28, 1964. He is a 1982 graduate of Leon High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Florida State University in 1986, and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1990. He worked for Ernst & Young and Hacker Johnson C.P.A.'s in Tampa and in 1993, he returned to his hometown to join his father as a partner in Hartsfield & Hartsfield, C.P.A.'s. Upon his father's retirement, he became managing partner of Hartsfield & Jett, C.P.A.'s and later established his own practice, John W. Hartsfield, C.P.A., which he managed until his death. Scott was a member of the Florida Institute of CPAs, Seminole Boosters, Capital City Rotary, Leadership Tallahassee 18, Gulf Winds Track Club, the Leon County Republican Club, and Bradfordville First Baptist Church. He was actively involved in a men's Bible study and taught Royal Ambassadors at Bradfordville First Baptist Church. He enjoyed sports and hunting with his sons, travelling with his family and running. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Babis, Lewis Buford, Ed Canup, J. Alan Cox, Dale Davidson, Mark Lillie, Brad McLeod, and Bill Tharpe. Scott and his family supported many not-for-profits in our community. The organizations most precious to him at the time of his death would benefit from your support.
