John R. Ramsey April 6, 1940 - February 3, 2020 YUKON John Ross Ramsey was born April 6th, 1940 at the Cherokee Indian Hospital in Claremore, OK. John graduated from Bran-son High School in 1958. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served 4 years with 2.5 of those in Okinawa, Japan. John married Dorothy Moudy on May 22, 1964. The couple had 2 children, Larry and Rebecca. John was a Missouri State Highway Patrolman. He joined the USDOT-FHWA-BMCS in Topeka, KS. The family lived in Overbrook, KS. John then left the Government to join the Becker Corporation as VP of Insurance & Safety. He returned to federal service in 1990 in Oklahoma City working at Transportation Safety Institute. His love was always Hazardous Materials Training which allowed him to teach all over the world. He is preceded in death by his parents Homer and Juanita Ramsey. He is survived by Dorothy, his wife of 55 years and two married children Larry and Kim Ramsey of Yukon and Becky and Lyndon McIntyre of Independence, MO. He has three grandsons, Trevor of Athens, GA, Tyler and Theresa of Mustang and Tanner and Kayla of Yukon. John also has a granddaughter, Dawn McIntyre. One of Papa John's greatest joys during his final years was playing baseball and basketball with his great- grandson, Daniel, and holding his great-granddaughter, Daphne. Papa John loved God, his family, and sports his entire life. He shared those things with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved the University of Oklahoma and OU football, being a fan since the Bud Wilkerson days. Memorial services for John will be held at New Covenant Christian Church at 12000 N. Rockwell Ave., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73162 at 1 PM on February 14, 2020. Reception will follow.
