In memory of
JoAnn (McCorkle) Johnson
JoAnn McCorkle Johnson passed away peacefully Dec. 13, 2017, surrounded by family. She was born May 12, 1937, in Los Angeles, the only child to RQ and Verna McCorkle, who both predeceased her. In the late 1940's her family purchased and moved to Navarro by the Sea. Her parents built the bar and JoAnn sometimes waited tables. In 1956, JoAnn met and married the love of her life, George Johnson. They raised their sons, Billy and Ricky, in Fort Bragg. She worked at Redwood Elementary in special education for 19 years. JoAnn loved fishing, cooking, bowling and winning tournaments with her friends and teammates, Betty Piver, Fanchion Rosotti and Carmel Specie. JoAnn is grieved by George, her husband of 61 years; sons, Billy (Val) Johnson of Fort Bragg, and Ricky (Stephanie) Johnson of Des Moines Iowa; grandchildren, Michael and Cassidy Johnson; and family and friends. The family would like to thank nephew, Michael Johnson, for all the help he's given over the years. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
