Jean Hudson
Jean Hudson, of Georgetown, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. She was born June 28, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Ralph H. and Laura M. (Jester) Chafin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John L. Hudson; son, Steve "Sco" Hudson; brothers, George and Lee Chafin; and sister, Gloria Wilmuth. Jean was a graduate of Georgetown High School, class of 1948. She worked for the Diamond State Telephone Company, the Sussex County Prothonotary Office, the Delaware Department of Elections, and the Delmarva Poultry Industry, retiring in 1993. Jean loved life, preferring the simple, ordinary things of life, with family and friends. Jean is survived by son, Darryl Hudson and wife Carol; daughter, Jill Hudson Becker and husband David; granddaughters, Tara Hudson Davis and husband Jeffrey, Teresa Mumford Scott and husband Allen, Samantha Becker; grandsons, Brody Grove and Myron Brown; and great-grandson, Hank Davis. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5, 3:30 p.m., at the Georgetown Community Bible Church, located in the Marvel Carriage Museum complex, 510 S. Bedford St., Georgetown. Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Jean Chafin Hudson should be directed to support breast cancer research at theJohns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, 750 East Pratt Street, Suite 1700, Baltimore, MD 21202.
