In memory of
Jane E. Krieger
Jane E. Krieger, 89, a life resident of Hazleton, died early Friday morning at Kadima Rehabilitation and Nursing, Drums. Born in Hazleton, March 30, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Pearl Stewart-Wehner Knelly and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Hazleton where she had been a choir member for many years. Following graduation in 1948 from Hazleton High School, Jane began employment at the former Hazleton National Bank's Broad Street office where she retired in 1957 as secretary to the president. Since 1969, she has been doing extensive volunteer work for the Hazleton Chapter of the American Red Cross. She enjoyed spending her time playing the organ, painting and visiting her favorite place, Rehoboth Beach, DE. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her stepfather, George G. Wehner; husband, George C. Krieger; brother, Gerald Knelly; and step-brothers, Harry Becker and George Wehner Jr. Surviving are her sons, Jeffrey G. Krieger and his wife, Mary, Dunnellon, Fla.; and Kevin M. Krieger and his wife, Jayne Ann, Drums; and niece, Brenda Knelly Rizzo, Sugarloaf Twp. The family would be remiss if we didn't acknowledge the kind hearts and helping hands of her two caregivers, Mary Jo Van Gieson and Lisa Stanavage. All services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Mount Laurel Memorial Park, Hazleton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Trinity Lutheran Church, 100 N. Church St., Hazleton, PA 18201, or to the Hazleton Chapter of American Red Cross, 101 W. Broad St., Office 614, Hazleton, PA 18201, are welcomed by the family. Krapf & Hughes Funeral Home is assisting the family through their Butler Chapel in Drums. Condolences messages may be entered in the family's memorial guestbook at www.khfuneralhomes .com.
