James Payne James F. "Jim" Payne, age 89, of Springfield, MO passed away peacefully at 12:30 PM Saturday, January 5, 2013 in Blue Springs, MO surrounded by his family. He was born in Springfield on September 13, 1923 to Frank and Daisy Payne. After Daisy's death in 1931, Frank married Alma Kiser and she helped raise Jim from the age of 9. Jim served 3 years during WWII and then met the love of his life, Eva Hogue on December 28, 1946. They married on March 31, 1947 and later had two children. Over the next 65 years, Jim divided his time among family, business, public service, and golf. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Eve, son Scott Payne, daughter Judy Linke (Ted), granddaughters Sarah Linke, Emily Klapmeyer (Brad), grandchildren Maxwell, Isabelle, and Eleanor Klapmeyer, brother Bob Payne (Lydia) and Bob's daughter Teri Goebel, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to thank Jim's caregivers, Cindy Webb and William Moore for the loving care they have provided over the past year and a half. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 4:00 PM Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM Monday, January 14, 2013, also at the Brentwood Chapel and burial will follow at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks or to a charity of your choice.
