JAMES MUSCHLITZ
James R. Muschlitz BETHLEHEM James R. Muschlitz, 87, of Bethlehem, PA, died peacefully Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, at Saucon Valley Manor in Hellertown. Born Oct. 31, 1930, in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Mary (Rupple) and Clarence Muschlitz. James was married to Regena "Reggie" Muschlitz for 21 years until her death in 2009. James attended Penn State and Lehigh University. He was a 1958 graduate of Kutztown State University and received his masters degree from Temple University. James previously managed the Schoenersville Inn. He worked for Western Electric as an engineer associate for 14 years, and taught science in the Wilson Boro School District for four years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. James had a passion for cars, where he worked as a mechanic with the United Racing Club Sprint Cars and was a tech inspector for Sports Cars Club of America and Indy Car Racing. He was also a Marion Campbell cabinet maker for 5 years. James was a 32nd degree mason, a member of the Northeast Wanderers and an avid gardener. He is survived by his sons, Bruce Muschlitz and his wife, Darlene, and Frank Mushlitz and his wife, Stephanie; brother, Edward "Harold" Muschlitz and wife, Eileen; sisters, Helen "Dolly" Ersham and husband, Otto, and Arlene Salokey. James was preceded in death by his brothers, Milton and Clarence Muschlitz, and sisters, Eva Hines and Marie Ronyack. A viewing will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in James' name to the John Rivers Memorial VFW Post 11322, 41 Belmont Ave., Quakertown, PA 18951.
