Oct. 26, 1949 - Dec. 31, 2018 OKLAHOMA CITY James Gilbert "Jim" Griffin, age 69, was born in Edmond, OK to Dan H. & Bess Avera Griffin. Jim descended from `89ers, growing up in Oklahoma City. He died peacefully at home Dec. 31, 2018, after an extended illness. He is survived by Ruth Orcutt Griffin, his wife of 42 years; son, James Samuel Griffin; daughter, Laura Bess Griffin; sisters, Daneille Grimes (Gerry), of Norcross, GA; Christy Thomas (Jim) and Janelle Hernandez, of Tulsa, OK; nieces and nephews. A graduate of Putnam City High, he attended OSU and served in the National Guard. He had worked for Griffin Drilling and was co-owner of Med-Depot. Jim and Ruth enjoyed cooking, art, music, travel and especially, their family. His sense of humor and storytelling, as well as being a lifelong learner endeared him to friends and family. Services will be at Memorial Park Historic Chapel, 13400 N. Kelley, Thursday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. Contributions may be made in his honor to your favorite charity.
