James Florell "Jimmy" Weldon
WELDON, James Florell "Jimmy" James F. "Jimmy" Weldon was born in Milford, Kansas on August 2, 1930 and passed away on June 9, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine (Jean) Easley Weldon in 2016 after 63 years of marriage; his brother, Thomas Weldon of Athens, Texas; his mother, Dorothy Florell Weldon; and his father, James Oliver Weldon of Dallas. Jimmy is survived by: son, Stephen Alan and wife Casey Chandler Weldon of Garland, Texas; daughter, Barbara Elaine and husband James Randall Keltner of Round Rock, Texas; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Henderson of Quinlan, Texas; sister-in-law, Sue Green of Naples, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Jimmy was raised in many places including Del Rio, Texas, New York City and Washington, D.C. where he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. Jimmy graduated from Culver Stockton College where he met his wife and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. Afterward, Jimmy enlisted in the United States Navy, got married and settled into Dallas to attend Southern Methodist University and become a Senior Electronics Engineer. Jimmy worked for his father, who founded Continental Electronics, and traveled the world installing commercial radio and television transmitters, US and NATO military communications, the Arecibo space telescope amplifier in Puerto Rico and many more. He enjoyed family, many friends and co-workers, the Dallas Cowboys and especially the Texas Rangers. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 12:30PM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park. Family will receive friends thirty minutes prior. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org
