Irene D. Barnoski of North Scranton died Thursday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit, Dunmore. She was the widow of Bernard Barnoski, who died in 2012. Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Barbara Csigi. Before her retirement, she was employed as a human resources specialist at WEA Corporation and Specialty Records, Olyphant. Irene was a bowler before retirement and an avid golfer afterward, an expert seamstress, liked to make beautiful quilts, she loved the holidays and baking delicious pies, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was crucial in keeping the Csigi family reunion going since the early '70s by hosting or coordinating the event. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Green Ridge Health Center for the wonderful care they provided. Irene was an active member of the Mary, Mother of God Parish, she sang in the choir, was a lector and was involved in all church activities. For her efforts, she was given the Lifetime Achievement Award at the church. Surviving are her daughter, Ann Marie Holmberg and husband, Steve, Whidbey Island, Wash.; two sons, Bernie and wife, Cindy, Hopewell, N.Y.; and Stephen and wife, Ann, Scranton; grandchildren, Michael and wife, Kim; Kristin and husband, Brad Allen; Jennifer and Breanyn; two sisters, Mary Jankowski and Barbara Arcieri; a brother, Louis Csigi; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Joseph, John, Michael, Steve, and Frank. The funeral will be conducted Wednesday, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Mary, of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 316 William St., Scranton. Entombment will be at Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may pay their respects Wednesday from 9 until the start of the Mass at the church. Please be mindful to follow the pandemic guidelines. Face coverings are required and social distancing. Please extend your condolences without physical contact to the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
