In memory of
Henry Richard DiMambro
DOVER - Henry Richard DiMambro, 88, died at Hyder House Hospice on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Born in Dover, N.H., June 15, 1930 to then newly arrived Italian immigrants Crescenzo and Antonia DiMambro. Raised in a self-employed Depression era household, his parents instilled a life-long hard-working entrepreneurial spirit. He attended St. Mary's Catholic school and Dover High and spent his youth working in the family farm stand business which existed for many years on Stark Ave. His family opened DiMambro's Supermarket where he worked until joining the U.S.A.F. where he served in Japan during the Korean War. He graduated UNH 1955 and Penn State 1957, MBA. Upon graduation he became Town Manager of York, Maine. Next he owned a small grocery store in Portland Maine, then opened a Dunkin Donuts in the 1960's on Route 1, southern Maine. This was eventually followed by owning Bondi's Family Restaurant on Route 1, Seabrook for many years until this led to his opening and operating Momma Di's Casa di Pasta, Portsmouth, N.H. In retirement he leisurely and happily dealt in antiques and travelled extensively and continuously with his wife Kathy, always driving with their dog as companion. Widely known as a kind, friendly, compassionate and peaceful man with a ready and much used sense of humor, he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Predeceased by brothers Armand, Arthur, M.D., and Robert (Bob) and his son Russell. Survived by his wife of 44 years Kathy (Siress); his sons Brian (Meredith) DiMambro, William (Sharon) Dutkowski and Henry Dutkowski (Chrissy); plus his many grandchildren. SERVICES: A public open-house remembrance and Life Celebration will occur Sunday, September 16, from 12-4 p.m., at #181 County Farm Cross Road, at Darci (DiMambro) and Michael Davis' home. Everyone who knew Henry and his extended family are cordially invited to stop in to share a memory or story. Refreshments and warm greetings will be on offer to all who drop by for a visit. A burial ceremony beside his parents in St. Mary's Cemetery will occur at month's end. Remembrance donations to Hyder House Hospice of Dover will be eternally appreciated by the DiMambro family and all who pass away with their loving end-of-life support and care.
