In memory of
Helen Dean (Peipelman) Carpenter
After 85 years on this earth, Helen was peacefully called Home on July 3, 2018. Helen had recently moved to Oklahoma City, Okla. and was a former resident of Millsap, Texas since 2008. She leaves behind family, friends and acquaintances that loved her immensely and enjoyed her affable personality, quick wit, and love of making new friends. Her natural mothering instincts and actions were shared freely with many. Helen was born in Garner, Texas, to Modene and E.V. Peipelman and lived most of her early years in Cool, Texas. She graduated from Millsap High School (Texas) in 1950. While working at the PX on the Fort Walters Air Force Base, Helen met Airman L.A. Skip Carpenter. She married Skip in 1955 at Holder's Chapel in Cool before moving to Missouri. They raised four children in Boonville, where they were 50-year residents. They were owners of the State Farm Insurance Agency, and original members of the Boonville Community of Christ congregation. Helen was involved in the community as a fund raiser for the Red Cross and other charities, and participated in the Church Women's United in Boonville. Skip preceded her in death in 2013. Helen never lost her zest for life and survived numerous health challenges along the way. She was a woman who knew what she liked. Some of her favorite things were BLT sandwiches, traveling, XM's Elvis channel, attending church, shopping, visiting with friends and seeing her grandchildren. Not necessarily in that order. She is survived by daughters Cheryl Mangan (Jim), Creve Coeur, Mo., and Sheila Tredway (Gary), Edmond, Okla.; sons Michael Hayes, San Francisco, Dan Carpenter, Monterey, Calif., and Russ Carpenter, Edmond, Okla.; three grandchildren: Rebecca, Olivia and Matthew; her two siblings, Patsy Tison (Joe) and Vernon Peipelman (Nancy), of Millsap; and by her Aunt Leta Kates of Raymore, Mo. who was her classmate and best friend growing up. Also surviving are her in-laws, Albert Carpenter, Carl and Gloria Carpenter, and Dave and Doreen Netter. The family would like to thank the Epworth Villa staff and Mercy Hospital's doctors and nurses. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 2 p.m., at Holders Chapel Church in Cool, Texas.
