Harriette Elaine McHale, 83 years old, formerly of Hawaii, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019 at the home of her daughter, Joan Achenbach, in Millerstown. She was born July 26, 1935 in Elizabeth, NJ to James and Harriet (Fletcher) O'Connell. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Duncannon and had formerly been the owner of a travel agency before working for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. She had been a Master Cruise Director and a member of the Women's Toastmaster Club. Elaine was the widow of John J. McHale and is survived by her daughter, Joan Achenbach and husband Mark of Millerstown; sisters, Geraldine J. Labrutto and Carol Engo of New Jersey; grandson, Mark Joseph Achenbach; sister-in-law Betty O'Connell; step brother, Msgr Leonard F. Troiano and step sister, Eleanor Seneca. She was preceded in death also by her brother, James D. O'Connell. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 26, 2019 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 901 North High Street, Duncannon. Burial will be in the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery.
