Harold "Doc" DAUGHERTY
DAUGHERTY HAROLD "DOC" DAUGHERTY, 87, of Downingtown, PA passed away on August 15, 2015. Born in 1927 in Paris, PA, he was the son of the late Albert and Eula (Freshwater) Daugherty. Doc was a graduate of Weir High School in West Virginia, where he was voted 1945 Amateur Athlete of the Year. He earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio State and his Master's from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. He played football for Ohio State, until he was drafted into the Army, where he played baseball. He also played for the Detroit Tigers Farm System for six years and managed the Detroit Tigers Class A Leagues for 3 years. He became a high school teacher and coach in Weirton WV, and Bedford, OH, for 26 .5 years. He was the loving husband for 62 years of Desiree (Hale) Daugherty; loving father of Mike (June), Mark (Linda) and Susan Watson; loving grandfather of Chase, Brett, Caitlin, Justin, Jessica, Doc and Breanne; loving great-grandfather of Emma; and dear brother of Albert Daugherty (Ruth).
