Guadalupe Rivera, 87, passed away August 14, 2018. She was born in Mercedes, Texas on February 7, 1931 to Fidel Alaniz and Santos Trevino Alaniz. Guadalupe was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and was involved with the Catholic Daughters, the Guadalupanas and the Altar and Rosary Society. She will be dearly missed by her loving family. Guadalupe was preceded in death by her parents, Fidel and Santos Alaniz; husband, Rafael Rivera. Survivors include her sons, Oscar (Norma Jean) Rivera of Sinton, Texas, Joe (Diana) Rivera of Arlington, Virginia, Jimmy (Flory) Rivera of Bishop, Texas, Jesse (Bel) Rivera of Kingsville, Texas; daughter, Sylvia Noemi Riviera of Alice, Texas; brother, Oscar (Ninfa) Alaniz of Pharr, Texas; sisters, Maria De Jesus of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon Mexico. Other survivors include 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
