Mrs. Grace E. Taylor
Grace E. Taylor, 95, of Hoopeston and formerly of Watseka, passed away at 12:23 a.m. Sept. 30, 2014 at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center in Hoopeston. She was born Sept. 20, 1919, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of William and Ruth (Williams) Farrell. She married Elmer L. Taylor on Sept. 21, 1940 at Saint Rose's Church in Cleveland, Ohio. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2008. Together Grace and Elmer had four children: one daughter, Sandy (Dana) Haley, of East Lynn, and three sons: Tom (Nancy) of Canton, Mich., Gary (Jackie), of Morris, and Mark (Jay), of Chicago. Grace was the grandmother of: Leslie (Erich), Nick (Kim), David, Kelly (Joe), Lauren, Josh (Kara), Jordan (Mia), Jenna and Jonathan (Abby), was known as GeGe to seven great-grandchildren and was "adopted granny" to Keisha Maddox. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, one sister and one brother. Grace was a homemaker, who enjoyed taking care of her family. She was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hoopeston. Grace enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and she loved M & M's. Grace's greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved them all and was able to enjoy her family to the fullest, until she went home to meet her own mother for the first time. Grace's final days with her Autumn Fields family was a very special part of her life. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. A private memorial mass will be conducted Oct. 25 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hoopeston, with Father Patrick O'Neal officiating. Following the service, a burial will be held for both, Grace and Elmer. Military rites for Elmer will be accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #348 and the VFW Buddy Egnew Post #4826. Memorials may be made to Grace's family, in her honor, to be donated to her caregivers.
