Age 86, of White Bear Lake on 11/9/12 Physician, Bible Teacher, Author Gordon L. Addington was a general surgeon, clinical instructor of surgery at University of Minnesota Medical School, and Chief of Staff at United Hospital, St. Paul. From 1960-71, he served as a medical missionary in Hong Kong with the Evangelical Free Church of America. His life-long passion for God and the Bible was evident to all who knew him. His book, Discovering the Bible (NavPress) has been translated into six languages. Preceded in death by parents Frank B. and Hazel L. Addington. Survived by wife of 61 years, Bonnevieve; children Thomas (Susan), Timothy (Mary Ann), David (Marjorie), Jonathan (Louise), Mary Kaye (Carl) Pedro, James (Jolene), Becky (Thomas) Holien, Daniel, Betsy (David) Linn, Deborah (Wayne) Hardison; daughter-in-law Amy; sister Lorraine (Dean) Fredrickson; 48 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren. Visitation 4-7 PM Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 1401 Arcade Street (Hwy 61), St. Paul. Memorial Service 2 PM Monday November 12, at FIRST EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, 2696 Hazelwood St., Maplewood. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Evangelical Free Church of America, 901 E. 78th St. Minneapolis, MN 55420 for translation and distribution of Discovering the Bible.
