Gerrard David Mendoza
Mendoza, Gerrard David July 13, 1944 - December 19, 2018 Gerrard left us on December 19th at UCI medical center due to massive cerebral hemorrhage. He is preceded in death by his parents Ishmael Mendoza and Ellen (Canchola). Gerrard was born in Orange and lived in Olive (now Orange) until the family moved in 1951 to Emily Street in Anaheim. Gerrard attended Horace Mann Elementary School, Fremont Jr. High School, and graduated from Anaheim High School in 1962. Gerrard was a baseball pitcher during his high school years. He also enjoyed wrestling and boxing. A lifelong passion was playing pool and competing in tournaments. He loved Anaheim and would not consider living anywhere else. He had a great recollection of the old days in Anaheim and loved to tell stories in great detail. He worked for the City of Anaheim for several years and OC Vector control, as well as other local companies. Gerrard leaves 5 children who meant everything to him, Diana Mendoza, Christian Cruz, Lisa, Abel and Noah Mendoza; 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons; longtime companion Linda Duran; sister Susan Lirette, nephew Matthew Carter, uncle David Canchola and many cousins. Gerrard's weary soul is now at peace with the Lord. Rosary will be held at Hilgenfeld Mortuary in Anaheim on Sunday, January 13th at 6:00pm. Funeral Mass is January 14th at 10am at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Anaheim, with interment to follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange.
