George H. Van Wagner, 99, of Dauphin, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at his residence. He was the loving husband of the late Margaret Mary (Horchler) Van Wagner. Born in Harrisburg, George was the son of the late George W. and Annie E. (Cook) Van Wagner. George was a self-employed public accountant at Van Wagner Accounting and Insurance. He was an active member at St. Matthew the Apostle and Evangelist Catholic Church, Dauphin. George served as a special minister, sexton, CCD teacher and member of the choir. He also was a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus - St Matthew Council and #0917 Bishop Shanhan Assembly. As a member of the Penna. Sheep and Wool Growers Assoc., he was instrumental in organizing sheep events and marketing. He served Middle Paxton Township as supervisor, secretary/treasurer and Roadmaster over the course of many years. George is survived by his son G. Michael Van Wagner, husband of Wendy, of Dauphin, 8 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his sons Billy and J. Thomas Van Wagner. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 607 Stoney Dr., Dauphin PA 17018 with the Very Rev. Paul M. Clark, JCL officiating. Committal will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dauphin, PA. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church.
