Mrs. Genda Sutton
Mrs. Glenda Sutton age 59, passed away Monday, March 9, 2020. She was born August 3, 1960 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Aubrey and Mattie Lou Foreman Andrews. Mrs. Sutton started playing piano in her local church at age eight. She continued her musical training and became an accomplished pianist and pipe organist. Glenda graduated high school as her class Valedictorian. She then attended Okaloosa-Walton Junior College before receiving her Bachelor's degree in Political Science at the University of West Florida, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She went on to obtain her Juris Doctorate degree, with honors, from the Law School at Florida State University. Glenda married Howard "Rick" Sutton shortly after graduating from Walton Senior High in July 1978 and they had many wonderful years together. Glenda practiced law both privately and with the State of Florida. She served as the Chief Felony Attorney for the Public Defender's office in North Okaloosa County. Glenda also published five of her own novels. Mrs. Sutton was preceded in death by her father and mother. Mrs. Sutton is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Howard Richard "Rick" Sutton; her brothers; Lenny Andrews (Chris) and Ronnie Andrews (Loris); three nieces, Jennifer Nowling, Holly Mudd, and Laura Pelfrey; four nephews, Justin Wasson, Ryan Wasson, Benjamin Sutton, and Tyson Andrews; and her brother-in-law, Wayne Sutton (Joan). A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32433. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 13, 2020 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Flowers are being accepted. Donations may be made to St. Agatha's Episcopal Church, where Glenda was organist for many years, for care and maintenance of the organ. Donations may also be made to the American Cancer Society.
