Garland Lee "Jigger" Splawn
Garland Lee Splawn, better known as Jigger, was born to Samuel Page Splawn and Jimmie Dee Splawn on January 26, 1933 in Wilton, Alabama. Jigger was drafted and served in the army after high school. He married Billie Ann Lee of Pell City on December 21, 1956. He was a long time cattle farmer, an avid bird hunter and a loyal Alabama football fan. He retired from Westinghouse and became a small business owner when he opened the Splawn Farm Center in Montevallo. He is survived by a sister, Rosemary Brown of Pleasant Grove; a son, Robert Mitchell Splawn (Casey) of Six Mile; a daughter, Melinda Splawn of Birmingham; grandsons, Samuel Dean Splawn (Hayley) of Six Mile and Ryan Lee Splawn (Brittany) of Eoline; and four great grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents; a sister, Yvonne Splawn; a brother, Robert Splawn; wife, Billie Ann Splawn; and son, Steven Lee Splawn. He passed from this life on Friday, February 8th at his home on the farm in Six Mile, Alabama. Visitation is Saturday, February 9th at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo from 4-8pm. The funeral will be Sunday at 2pm at Rockco's Chapel. He will lie in state from 1pm-2pm. Burial to follow at the Montevallo City Cemetery.
