Spencer Eshen Wang
Spencer Eshen Wang March 29, 1972 - Oct. 16, 2019 On Oct. 16, 2019, Dr. Spencer Eshen Wang, Chief Radiologist and Director of Imaging at the Roseburg Veteran's Hospital, unexpectedly passed away in his home. Educated at Tufts University School of Medicine, he performed his Radiology Residency and Musculoskeletal Fellowship at University of Florida. Taking his position with the VA in 2013, Dr. Wang was an engaging, personable boss and a hard worker for veterans. His trust and confidence in his staff created a positive, safe and happy work environment. He took genuine interest in his staff's personal lives and supported their professional advancement. Though busy, his door was always open. He was a great teacher and extremely generous of his time and knowledge. Family was at the forefront of his life. He enjoyed sharing stories about culture and travel with others. Conversations were lively and diverse about family adventures, moving from Taiwan to Kansas as a young boy, clamming, mushroom hunting, biking, swimming, geography, world history, food and wine. He combined his love of travel and photography and would make great efforts to capture a beautiful view or sunset. Dr. Wang was a wonderful cook and loved a potluck. Sharing food, laughs and celebrations will be a cherished memory for all who knew him. Dr. Wang was a true patriot, a first-generation immigrant who served the veterans of the United States. He was caring, generous and principled. Although we have lost a best friend, he will forever be in our hearts. Dr. Wang is survived by parents, Johnny and Linda; and brother, Charles. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019, in the Roseburg VA Hospital Chapel. Please sign the online guest book at www.oregonlive.com/obits
