Philip Wesley Smith GREENVILLE - Mr. Philip Wesley Smith, 77, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 7, 2018. The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 11 AM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. John Sinkhorn. Burial will follow in the Caleb Smith Cemetery near Chicod. Philip was an avid hunter and enjoyed working on his farm. He retired from DuPont having worked for 35 years as an electrician. The one thing he will be remembered for the most is the love he had for his family, especially his grandkids, who referred to him as "Pa Smith." Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Wesley Smith and Julia Griffin Smith. He is survived by his: sons, Philip Wesley Smith, II and wife, Karen, of Ayden; Richard Troy Smith and wife, Sharon; and Kevin Wayne Smith and wife, Louisa, all of Greenville; grandchildren, Zack, Griffin, Macy, Nicholas, and Cameron; sister, Betsy Elks and husband, Billy, of Greenville; brother, Harold Smith and wife, Diane, of Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses in Palliative Care at Vidant Medical Center and Ayden Dialysis. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016 or Maranatha Free Will Baptist Church, 1407 East 14th Street, Greenville, NC 27858.
