Patricia Lovvorn Griffin
Patricia Lovvorn Griffin, 79, passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018, in Asheville, North Carolina, after many years of struggling with Alzheimer's. Pat was born on April 11, 1939, in Fulton County, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William R. (Billy) Griffin; her parents, Doc and Jimmie Lovvorn; and her brother, Jim Lovvorn. She is survived by her son, William Kevin Griffin, and his wife Tania; grandsons, Robert Kimbrough and Michael Kimbrough; sister, Juanita Lovvorn Pruitt and her husband Terry; and sister-in-law Audrey Lovvorn; along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Pat graduated from Sylacauga High School in 1957. She was a long-time resident of Gadsden. She worked for the Alabama Gas Co. before moving to her long-term career at the Gadsden YMCA. She retired as the executive director of that Y. Pat loved the beach, the outdoors, and traveling around the country with her husband and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 10 at Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Gadsden, where she was a member. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to your local YMCA.
