NORMA RAE RAYMONT
Norma Rae Raymont 1927-2018 Age 91 of North Canton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Aultman Women's Board Compassionate Care Center on Saturday, September 8, 2018. She was born May 17, 1927, to Katherine (Opphile) Burchfield and George Thomas Burchfield. She attended J.J. Burns Grade School and graduated from Timken Vocational High School in the Secretarial Class of 1945. She was employed at Hercules Motors Co. as a secretary in the Service Department, also in the library at Oakwood High School from 1968 to 1979. Norma retired from the Uniontown Veterinary Clinic as a bookkeeper. She is survived by her husband of nearly 72 years, William "Bill"; two daughters, Dr. Denise (Dr. David) Ballinger of Hartville and Conni (Sam Ferrara) of Valrico, Fla.; five grandchildren, Wade (Miriam) of Cuyahoga Falls, Davy (Amy) of Fredericktown, Kristi (Ryan) Baker of Medina, Devon (Brian) Donahue of Canton and Drew (Ariel) of Hartville; and soon-to-be 10 great-grandchildren. Norma enjoyed her talents of decorating and floral arranging by membership in several Garden Clubs. She was involved in the PTA council, Lullaby/ Coterie Club, Ohio State Mothers, Girl Scouts as a Leader, El Titon 500 Club, Primetimers at Church of the Lakes, Prayer Shawl Group, nine year volunteer at Salvation Army Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity and served on Hamlets of Glenmoor Condominium Board. She shared her husband's interest in cars as a member of the Hall of Fame Chapter of VMCCA and continued her appreciation of Timken High School (where she met Bill) as a member of the TVHS Alumni Association and a board member of the Class of 1945 Reunion Committee. She was a member of Church of the Lakes United Methodist where services will be held Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bryan George officiating. Entombment will follow at North Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at Church of the Lakes United Methodist, 5944 Fulton Drive NW, Canton 44718.
