Martha Louise Dodson
A private family service will take place for Martha Louise Dodson, 92, Gadsden, who passed away on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018. Pastor Greg Ellison will officiate. Burial will be at Forrest Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home will direct. Mrs. Dodson was a lifelong resident of Gadsden and a 1944 graduate of Gadsden High School. She married Jack Byron Dodson on April 25, 1946. They had four children, Martha Diane Hilleke, Mary Beth Golden, John Alan Dodson, and Susan LeAnne Williams. She was active in her children's lives, having served as PTA President at Cory Elementary, and working with the school carnivals. She received her Associate of Science in nursing in 1974 from Gadsden State Community College and worked at Gadsden Regional Medical Center and many years in Cardiac Intensive Care at Riverview Regional Medical Center. Martha enjoyed sewing, gardening, and was an avid reader. She cared for all creatures from nursing the sick to adopting stray cats. She is survived by her children, as well as six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Martha had requested no flowers and that memorials be made to the Humane Society in Etowah County.
