Carlson, Kenneth Grand Rapids, MI Kenneth Carlson, age 76, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, and went home to be with his Lord on Friday, September 6, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 16, 1943 in Detroit, MI, Ken was raised in Northport, MI. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany for three years during the Vietnam War. He retired from General Motors after 32 years and went on to work for American RV/Camping World. Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Pat; his children, Amy (Greg) Diekevers, Bruce Carlson, Kevin (Kris) Carlson; grandchildren, Ryan (Angela) Bouwman, Stephanie (Rich) Senneker, Brianna Carlson, Zachary Carlson, Kaitlyn (Justin) Pepper, Hailey Carlson, Grady Carlson; step-grandchildren, Jonathon (Amanda), Justin (Pam), Matthew (Morgan), Tyler Diekevers; Jordan Garcia; five great grandchildren, Addilyn, Lucas, Aaron, Ellie, Grayson; sister, Jean (Jerry) Cummins; eight brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews The family will greet visitors on Monday, September 9, from 1 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm at Stroo Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, September 10, at Providence Christian Reformed Church, 7730 Eastern Ave. SE, with Pastor Bob Boersma and Pastor J.B. Wernlund officiating. Interment will be in Winchester Cemetery. Contributions in honor of Ken may be made to Faith Hospice.
