Jean Roupinian
Jean Roupinian ALEXANDRIA TOWNSHIP, NJ With the saddest regret we announce the passing of Jean Roupinian who passed away peacefully on Saturday Oct. 5, 2019 in his home in the company of his wife, Clairette Roupinian. Jean was born to Armenian parents but was born in Greece, and raised in France. After serving in World War II as a member of the French Resistance, he married Clairette Rein in Paris in 1954. In 1955 Jean and Clairette emigrated to the United States. After living in Plainfield and Middlesex, NJ, they established a home in Milford, NJ, where they raised their three children. Jean was a tailor by profession, and owned and operated the tailor shop "Continental Tailoring" on South Bridge Street in Somerville, NJ, for 37 years. While Jean's expert tailoring was known throughout the local area, even more so was his reputation as the "French guy" with a distinctive character, good wine, humor, and company for all who walked in his shop. In addition to being the beloved town tailor, Jean pursued his passion for body building - maintaining his body builder physique throughout his life while extending his strength training expertise to dozens of pupils in his home gym. During his retired years, Jean enjoyed his family, many friends, the Chinese buffet, and being a proud member of the veterans' group Gem Vaccuum Veterans of Glen Gardner,NJ. He is survived by his wife, Clairette Roupinian; three children, Yasmine Barto, Henri Roupinian and Tzarine Roupinian; son-in-law, Craig Barto; and three grandchildren, Rebecca Barto, Dara Connell and Arianna Roupinian. Jean will be cherished in memory as he was in life - a happy man who loved the privilege it is to embrace each breath. Enchanté, our dearest chéri. Funeral services are private. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by Doyle-Devlin Funeral Home, Inc. in Phillipsburg. Expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.devlinfh.com .
